A Union That Works for You, Not Just the Chosen Few

It’s time for change at Teamsters Local 31.  Every member pays dues. Every member deserves a voice. And every member deserves leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.

That’s what the Bethel Unity Slate stands for.

We’re a team of experienced, rank-and-file Teamsters from across British Columbia and Yukon. We’re running to represent you in the 2026 International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Delegates Election and the 2027 Teamsters Local 31 Election — and to build a union that’s democratic, transparent, and truly member-driven.

Why Change Is Overdue at Local 31

After decades of the same leadership, members are demanding answers:

Where exactly are our dues going — and why isn’t it transparent?

Why is the executive board dominated by family members and friends?

Why do some Shop Stewards receive training while others are ignored?

Why is there no Youth Committee or Women’s Committee?

Why haven’t members received newsletters with regular updates since 2022?

Why are General Membership meetings inaccessible for members outside the Lower Mainland?

You’ve asked these questions. You deserve real answers — and real change!

The Bethel Unity Slate Will Deliver That Change

We’re committed to restoring transparency, fairness, and member-first leadership at Local 31.

Local 31 Leadership Election.

What Is the 2026 IBT Delegates Election?

Teamsters from across North America will gather at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) Convention in June 2026. This is where delegates from every Teamsters Local:

 Nominate International Officers
 Set the union’s direction
 Vote on constitutional changes

Decide policies that impact every Teamster

Delegates don’t go to watch — they go to vote and have a say.

For the last few terms, our current leadership has sent delegates to the IBT Convention, unchallenged. This year, more than 8000 Teamsters members from Local 31 from over 60 different companies get to vote who will go to the IBT Convention as their representatives.

The Bethel Unity Slate believes delegates should represent the rank and file, not family and friends.

Why Does the 2026 IBT Delegates Election Matter?

This isn’t just a symbolic vote. It’s how Teamsters choose who represents them at the IBT Convention.

The people you elect now as delegates from Teamsters Local 31 to the IBT Convention help choose who leads the Teamsters — and how our union fights for workers.

At the IBT Convention, Convention Delegates will cast ballots to determine which candidates for International Union office will qualify to appear on the ballot. If there is a contested election, a ballot will be mailed out to every Teamster in October 2026. Ballots will be counted in November 2026.

For the last year and a half, members of the Bethel Unity Slate have been out meeting members of Teamsters Local 31 and having conversations about what matters to the rank-and-file. We’ve heard over and over that it’s time for change at Teamsters Local 31.

Change starts now with your vote.

Elect the Bethel Unity Slate to be your voice at the 2026 IBT Convention.
Then, in 2027, we’ll run to lead Teamsters Local 31 and put members first (not family and friends).

What's Next?

Another election is coming in 2027 to determine who will lead Teamsters Local 31. Members of the Bethel Unity Slate will be out in the months ahead, campaigning and talking to members. It’s time for leadership that works for the members, not family members and a select few. It’s time for change.

The Time Is Now and the Choice Is Clear

No more politics as usual. No more silence at the top.
This is your union — and your voice matters.

Stronger contracts

Fair representation

Real transparency

End nepotism

A progressive union

The Future of Work: Wealth Inequality, AI, and the Gig Economy

Too many of our members are struggling, particularly as the divide between starting wages and the cost of living grows wider every year.

The Bethel Unity Slate wants Teamsters Local 31 to be focused on helping members get ahead economically. That means fighting for stronger contracts with better starting wages and more competitive wage progression —and it also means using union resources fairly.

Right now, too much money is being funnelled to the top: The current president, along with his two sons and proclaimed stepson, are collecting 15 union salaries between them. That’s not shared prosperity; that’s inequality inside our own Local.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and outsourcing to the gig economy are already changing how work is done, who benefits, and who gets left behind. Without strong union leadership, new technology will be used to cut jobs, weaken bargaining power, and concentrate more wealth at the top.

We believe productivity gains must benefit workers, not just executives and shareholders. These issues belong on the convention floor and at the bargaining table, not behind closed doors.

Participation Is Power

Unions are stronger when members show up, speak up, and stand together. History shows that collection action gets results.

We encourage every Teamsters Local 31 member to get involved. YOU are the union. Our solidarity is our superpower.

Your participation can deliver:

✓ Job security in the face of AI, automation, and the gig economy

✓ Stronger bargaining positions

✓ Leadership following the hard-won terms of Collective Agreements

✓ Fairer distribution of union resources

✓ Teamsters Local 31 leadership that answers to members

Vote for the Bethel Unity Slate to decide how your union confronts wealth inequality, AI, and automation.
